 |
Dr. Covington, President of Karate for Christ International, has been a
pastor since 1995, and is now serving in Asia. He is a 7th Degree Black
belt in Shinse Hapkido, trained by Joseph Lumpkin, a 4th Degree Black
belt in Pa Sa Ryu, trained by Kang Rhee, and a Level 1 Certified Dim
Mak Instructor, trained by Erle Montiague.
His academic studies include a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Auburn University, a Master of Arts in Pastoral
Ministries from Trinity, a Doctor of Ministry, and P.hD. in Asian Studies.

| Statement of Faith: |
We believe in the Trinity of God (1 John 5:6-8), the Virgin Birth (Matthew 1:1-25), the inspired and preserved
Word of God (Ps. 12:6-7), and It rightly divided (2 Tim. 2:15) that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh (John
14:7-10), and that He died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day, as according to Scripture (1
Corinthians 15:1-5). We are saved by grace through faith, not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Our calling is to equip
the Christian Martial Artist to reach out to the lost. We refer theological and counseling issues back to the local
church pastors, since our calling is to come alongside them, to win the lost, and to encourage believers to get into
fellowship with a local church.

Our final authority is the Word of God. It serves as our guideline for all Karate for Christ International operations.
Vision:
To use the Martial Arts as a vehicle to share the gospel. We also envision Karate for Christ International as a
means to help every country in Asia have a Bible-believing church so that every resident might have a gospel
witness and every believer be grounded and settled in the truth.
Strategy:
• Evangelize the lost through Christian Martial Arts Classes, preaching, personal relationships, literature
distribution, evangelistic Martial Arts Demonstrations and outreach Bible studies.
• Support Asian missions by supporting our missionaries that are establishing churches in Asia that are
indigenously led, internally supported, and intentionally replicating.
• Equip the faithful with ministry capabilities and resources through educational and material assistance.
• Expand the ministry throughout the United States and the world, with special focus on those countries and
regions normally "closed" to missionary activity.
Philosophy of Ministry:
• We do what is right according to the Word and leadership of God.
• We walk and minister in grace, truth, and purpose.
• We minister as an expression of excellence with integrity and without extravagance.
• We maintain accountability to God, our partners, and our supporters.
